Updated Design and Space for Growing Families
The new 2027 Volkswagen Atlas makes a strong impression with its striking new design, which features all-new sheet metal and updated lighting, both in the front and rear.
This upcoming SUV promises to turn heads with its undeniable design details, like double stacked LED headlights and a masked upper grille. It stands out even more with eye-catching double lightlines and an illuminated VW badge, which you’ll get on any trim level you choose except the base.
Adding to its attractive silhouette, the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas sports strong fenders, sculpted side sills, and a defined spoiler. Standard dynamic turn signals with three animations and available illuminated door handles further accent the SUV’s design.
The base trim level features 18-inch wheels, but the rest of the lineup features new 20-inch or 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheel designs. Machined alloy and black finishes are also available. Not only that, the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas family SUV in NC will offer three new exterior paint colors to choose from: Blackberry, Sacramento Green, and Sandstone.
Built on the upgraded MQB Evo architecture, the upcoming Atlas is about an inch longer than before and continues to offer a roomy cabin for the whole family. And with a convenient standard power liftgate, accessing the cargo area is simplified.

Comfort for Everyone and Advanced Safety Features Parents Will Love
From long road trips to quick errands, the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas priorities comfort and safety for drivers and passengers.
Not only is the Volkswagen Atlas interior space and cargo room generous, but the seats are comfortable as well. The driver is treated to a standard 12-way ergonomic seat with four-way lumbar support, and thigh support is added on higher trim levels. In addition, available four-way massaging front seats provide relaxation for both the driver and front-seat passenger.
Details like real wood décor, standard leatherette, and available leather elevate the cabin even more. Available interior color options let you choose from a pebble grey, a black and dark grey, or an all-new deep wine to suit your style.
Comfort continues with new air vents located in the B pillars, and ventilation is available for second-row seats. Plus, standard rear sunshades come in handy for naptime, while an available panoramic sunroof brings in more natural light in the day and offers a view of the stars at night. And with ambient lighting — 10 standard color options and 30 available color options — you’re all set for a special night out.
A 12.9-inch infotainment screen comes standard in the base trim level, but higher trim levels are graced with an even larger 15-inch infotainment screen. In addition, a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro configurable gauge cluster comes standard in all the trim levels, keeping the driver informed. There’s also a new Driver Experience Dial located in the center console that lets you easily adjust audio volume, select drive modes, and more.
Other standout features include seven available USB-C ports, new standard dual wireless charging, and a generative AI in-vehicle voice assistant, which all serve to add convenience to your family adventures. You’ll want to turn up your favorite tunes with the standard 9-speaker audio system or the available 14-speaker Harman Kardon® premium audio system.
When it comes to VW Atlas safety features for families, the upcoming Atlas adds a new front center airbag for a total of seven airbags. Standard IQ. DRIVE® driver assistance technology sees some key updates, too. These include changes to features like Emergency Assist, which now can help the Atlas move to the side of the road in a medical emergency situation.

Strong Performance and Everyday Capability
You can take on the next family adventure with confidence and capability, because the new 2027 Volkswagen Atlas is equipped to handle whatever’s on your schedule, featuring a new robust engine and offering ample towing capacity.
Matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the EA888 evo5 turbocharged, direct-injection 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI® engine boasts 282 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. That’s an increase of 13 horsepower compared to the current Atlas, and that means that the new 2027 Atlas offers the most horsepower of any Atlas ever.*
Not only that, fuel economy is also expected to improve. But if you want even better fuel efficiency, we have good news: A hybrid Atlas is also in the works!
When properly equipped, the 2027 VW Atlas can tow up to 5,000 pounds, allowing you to tow a trailer when needed. Front-wheel drive is standard, but you can upgrade to available 4Motion® all-wheel-drive for greater confidence in less-than-ideal road conditions.
